Physical exhaustion became dance and formed impressive images of the world of labor in the old Ruhr region. The extraordinary choreography returned on stage. Susanne Linke is reconstructing "Ruhr-Ort“ at Schauspielhaus Bochum together with the dancers of the Herner Street-Art Kompagnie Pottporus/Renegade. Martin was recently commissioned by BBC Radio 3's Late Junction to write computer-music responses to baroque pieces performed by Fretwork's Liam Byrne. The three pieces last in total around 15 minutes and draw on live processing techniques including worldizing, spectral sustain and rhythmic chord building using multitouch devices. Man High, Martin Parker, Stephen Deazley and Andy McGregor's 2011 audiovisual collaboration will receive at least two further performances in the UK in 2013. The first will take place at Glasgow City Halls on Saturday, April 20th, the second in Aberdeen as part of the Sound Festival in November. Man High was created from footage of Joseph Kittinger's historic 'leap from space' in 1960. Frank Gerhardt joins sumtone. He studied composition with Hans Zender and Claus Kühnl (as well as piano and harpsichord) in Frankfurt, where he has now himself been teaching electroacoustic composition and musical analysis since 2000. Compositional interests lie in the syntax of musical time, its perspectives and the multidimensional reception of composed sound. His oeuvre includes works for all instrumental and vocal types, electroacoustic music, and pieces for dance and theatre.
