This piece can only be performed on a tracker action organ. The organ requires some preparation by pulling various stops out at different distances. The stops chosen and the amount of air let through is at the performer's discretion or can be discussed with the composer. Suggestions for the Reid Organ in Edinburgh (similar to the one played by Bach in Leipzig) are included in the score as a guide.
